We’ll take you through a beautiful archipelago and varied waters before we berth the boat right up against the rocks outside the boathouse. Here you’ll go ashore directly onto the rock, surrounded by sea, rocky shores, and authentic coastal environment.
The Sjøbua is a place we have access to through local contacts, and it's precisely this that makes the experience so special. The cabin still appears almost unchanged from the time when fishermen used it to store nets, pots, and traps. Here, coastal history is literally in the walls. The cosy atmosphere, the smell of the sea and old wooden tables give the feeling of visiting a genuine piece of Oslo Fjord history – far removed from the commercial and managed.
The experience can be carried out on several levels – from the simple and authentic to something more tailored and exclusive.
For some groups, a simple "bua" experience is perfect, where we set up our own seafood, drinks, and good stories on the rocky shore. Others wish to elevate the experience further, and in that case, we hire a local sailor who greets us in the bua and has everything prepared before arrival. He knows the area like the back of his hand and contributes with stories, atmosphere, and genuine coastal culture that makes the visit truly special.
Inside the boathouse there is seating capacity for around 22 people, while the rocky shore outside offers space for even larger groups during the summer months. This makes the experience flexible for both smaller groups wanting a cosy and intimate atmosphere, and larger gatherings wishing to combine seafood, stories, and archipelago scenery outdoors.
When darkness falls and the candelabras are lit inside the lodge, the place takes on a very special atmosphere. Flickering light against old wooden walls, the sound of the sea outside, and the smell of saltwater and seafood create a warm and cosy mood that is hard to recreate anywhere else. This is the sort of experience people remember long after the trip is over.
